The Thirukkural, also known as the Kural, is a significant literary work in the Tamil language. Authored by Thiruvalluvar, it consists of 1330 couplets or Kurals. The Kurals are structured into 133 chapters, each containing 10 couplets, covering various aspects of life including needs, wealth, and love.

One distinguishing feature is that each couplet is composed of seven cirs, with four on the first line and three on the second. A cir can be a single Tamil word or a combination of multiple words.
